Hi friends and welcome back to the August MFT Slimline Challenge!
It's all about FALL! What defines autumn for you? Is it leaves in yellow and rust hues or pumpkin spice or warm woolen sweaters? Maybe a return to school for yourself or your kiddos? Whatever makes you feel fall, here’s your chance to turn it into a seasonal slimline design that celebrates all your favorite fall things!
MFT products are encouraged, but not required - just make sure to create a fall-themed slimline card for this challenge.
Let's say Autumn is my favorite season: I love its colors, I love falling leaves and as I am a teacher, I love going back to school and start another year! And, maybe I love autumn because it leads you directly to Christmas, which is my favorite Holiday.
So, when I saw this challenge, I could not resist to create a card! This is my inspiration, that features BB Squirrel stamp set.
To create the card, I started stamping all the images I wanted to feature in my slimline, using a Copic Friendly ink onto a piece of Transotype Perfect Coloring paper. I then colored the critters, the nuts and the branches using copic markers (you can find combos below) and die cut all of them using coordinating dies.
I then moved to the background: on a 3,5"x8,5" piece of Smooth White paper I ink blended some Distress Oxides: Crackling Campfire, Wild Honey, Scattered Straw and Forest Moss. To add some texture, I splattered some water, some acrilic paint and some of the two darkest colors. I let it dry for a hour and then die cut the panel using the largest of the Slimline Double Stitched Rectangles.
I then moved to the sentiment, which I customized using the In Stitches Lowercase Alphabet die: I die cut two times from white cardstock, and one from Milk Chocolate cardstock, to create depth and a little bit of white shadow. On two different strips of white paper, I also stamped the rest of the sentiment, to add before and after the die cut word.
I then arranged everything to my panel and matted the scene using a 3,5"x8,5" Smooth White cardstock.
